General Overview
You are on BingWiki, the People's Guide to Greater Binghamton. BingWiki is publicly editable and has been built and maintained by people in and around the area who want to share what they know and love. The site is a collection of facts, figures, memories and information about our community. You are welcome and encouraged to contribute and help.
BingWiki Structure
BingWiki is only possible by the contributions of people like you - anyone visiting the site may add information to share with others.
BingWiki is not a non-profit, and is not a structured organization. It is supervised by an ad-hoc group of locals who want to contribute to their community. (We welcome everyone who wants to help to that end!)
How to find out about contributions:
- We maintain a discussion list: list@bingwiki.org where you can hear about the latest "happenings"
- Primary Contact: Doug Camin
Moderators
Some users can perform administrative functions like blocking spammers, moving pages, and resolving disputes. Here is a full list of moderators: BingWiki Administrators
Technical Information
BingWiki runs on MediaWiki, the same engine that powers Wikipedia. We use a custom theme (derived from the familar Wordpress blog format.) BingWiki's hosting is handled courtesy of Avant IT Consulting, a Binghamton-area technology services firm.
